Colaco has scored just once in the ISL this season. But on Monday, in 21 minutes, he scored twice ¬ and lovely goals ¬ to power newly crowned ISL champions ATK Mohun Bagan to a stunning 5-1 victory against Gokulam Kerala in the Super Cup football tournament.
The ATKMB team management must be satisfied not only with the result but the way one of its key players got back in the goals. Colaco’s first goal resulted from poor defending by Abdul Hakku. A pass from Hugo Boumous was put into the roof of the net by Colaco from just inside the box.
His second goal came from a stunning long-ranger, after receiving a superb long ball, from ATKMB’s own half, by Ashish Rai. Then, on the stroke of half-time, Boumos made it 3-0, when he beat the Gokulam defense and goalkeeper after receiving a through ball from Nassiri.
Nassiri himself struck in injury time, but before him, Manvir Singh scored, from an assist from Boumos. Gokulam’s lone goal came from a Sergio Mendigutxia header. The host was outplayed by a clearly superior side.
