All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shares a picture with former India captain MS Dhoni after the southpaw was retained by the franchise on November 15. Chennai Super Kings retained him ahead of the IPL mini-auction scheduled on December 23. The player shared a picture with Dhoni and captioned it, “Everything is fine #RESTART.”

The Chennai franchise appointed Jadeja as the captain for the 2022 edition, but the player left the leadership role midway through. Dhoni stepped in as captain for the rest of the season. Jadeja’s decision to step down from the captaincy has fueled rumors of him fighting with CSK.

He has removed all posts related to the team’s 2021 and 2022 seasons from his official Instagram account, leading to speculation that all is not well between the all-rounder and the IPL franchise.

CSK parted ways with veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo after they released the West Indian ahead of the IPL mini-auction. The franchise retained the core of the group but released English pacer Chris Jordan who recently won the T20 World cup with England and is considered a death-overs specialist. Dwayne Bravo debuted in the inaugural season of the IPL for Mumbai Indians before playing for Chennai in 2011. The all-rounder played 161 matches and took 158 wickets in the IPL. He also played some important knocks with the bat and scored 1560 runs in 113 innings.

MS Dhoni returns as the captain of the side amid speculations of the batsman playing his last IPL in the 2023 season. The remaining purse for the franchise going into the auction will be INR 20.45 crores.

Players released:

Dwayne Bravo, Robin Uthappa, Adam Milne, Hari Nishaanth, Chris Jordan, Bhagath Varma, KM Asif, Narayan Jagadeesan

Current squad:

MS Dhoni (capt), Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Subhranshu Senapati, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, Matheesha Pathi

Chennai Super kings handed over the captaincy duties to Jadeja at the start of the IPL 2022 season but the southpaw relinquished the lead role midway through. Captain cool returned to captain the side but the team had a lackluster 2022 IPL season as they finished ninth in the points table.
