T20 World Cup 2022: Here’s how veterans, politicians react to India’s defeat

England defeated India by 10 wickets in the crucial semi-final match of the T20 World Cup. former cricketers and fans expressed their disappointment with the team’s performance on Twitter.

Legendary cricketer and former captain of the South African team, AB de Villiers praised England’s performance but, also appreciated the fight of the Indian squad. He even stated that he wants Indian Vs Pakistan finals.

Former India player and one of the best opening batsman, Virender Sehwag has expressed disappointment with India’s bowling attack.

Former Indian fast bowler, Irfan Pathan accepted that England are better than India today, and asked the Indian team to learn and come back harder next time.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also reacted to India’s defeat in the semi-finals and expressed disappointment with Team India’s performance.

IAS officer Awanish Saran tweeted a video of Rohit Sharma who could be seen dejected with teary eyes and said ‘winning and losing is part of the game’.

Harsha Bogle, also known as the Voice of Indian Cricket, expressed disappointment and said that India is playing a very conservative cricket.

Fans were quick to remind the team of its most successful captain in knockout tournaments, MS Dhoni. Some fans have even requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make Mahendra Singh Dhoni the coach of the men’s Indian cricket team.

Several users have replayed all the major failures of the Indian cricket team throughout the year including the loss in the South African test series, early exit from the Asia cup, loss in the World Test Championship and now the semi-final game against England.

Another fan expressed the Indian team’s failures in knockout tournaments since 2014.

Some fans felt bad for Virat Kohli, who scored the highest number of runs in the tournament and still ended up losing. Kohli has scored 296 runs at an impressive average of 98.66.

Pakistani influencer Ihtisham Ul Haq also took on the Indian team that lost to England in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan won their semi-final match against New Zealand on Wednesday by 7 wickets which took them to the final.

Ul Haq posted a meme where Kohli can be seen holding a mobile phone with the caption, ‘Hello Babar? Ye final mei kese attay hain?’
